Master Carpenter

Chestnut 2011 15.3hh

(Mastercraftsman ex Fringe)

Standing at March Hare Stud

A precocious type for his sire Mastercraftsman, winning his maiden on debut over 5f in the April of his 2yr season. On debut at three, he was third in the Greenham behind Kingman and Night of Thunder ( both now proven sires), in what was notorious for being a particularly strong contest that year. He then went on to win  the Heron Stakes L comfortably by 7 lengths. He won the Prix Daphnis G3 Chantilly and was G2 placed at Maisons-Laffitte. His career spanned over a seven year campaign and he remained to be group and listed placed at five years old and continued to win up until he was seven years of age, including the John Smiths Cup at York. Master Carpenter is a tough, versatile, consistent and genuine horse with plenty of ability, not to mention his good nature. If breeding a horse to race, them he would be an ideal choice. After seeing his first crop of foals, we are pleased to see he has passed on these attributes. Master Carpenter is out of Fringe, who is half sister to the listed winner Mount Elbrus. these two are in turn, out of El Jazirah, a Kris sister to Prix de Diane Hermes-French Oaks (G1) heroine Rafha. Rafha is best known as the dam of top-class sires Invincible Spirit and Kodiac. Master Carpenter is the third noteworthy member of the Eljazzi clan to retire to stud in 2019, along with James Garfield and Gustav Klimt. He has produced a lovely first crop of foals which breeders have been pleased with. We can't wait to see them hit the track in 2022.
